We have been talking about this one for awhile. What is a TRAD HASH, you ask? It's short for Traditional hash. After researching, reading, and reaching out (and around), we have an idea how Gispert and the OG's in the Mother Hash did their trails and we are getting back to our roots to honor Gispert and the his original crew. For those that don't know, Gispert and many of his contemporaries were military members and fought during some of the first military actions of WW2. Back in the beginning days of the hash, the kennel was true to the concept of the Paper Chase, and usually picked the fastest hare available to lay a trail through the jungle. They simply threw down pieces of paper which the pack had to follow, if the wind blew them it was no different than the scent of the hare or fox being blown when being chased by hounds. They didn't have beer stops but there was a boot full of beer awaiting them in one of their cars at the finish. If you took too long on the trail, the beer would likely be gone when you arrived. We will be recreating the flavor of these first trails not in the jungle but in a fairly unused section of state forest west of Pickens.
In addition to the trail, we will be offering an overnight stay at two rental cabins that together sleep 15 people, as well as a spaghetti feed. The on after and spaghetti feed will be open to everyone on trail, but the cabins will be first come first served. We will post on Hash Rego for the opportunity to grab cabin space soon. We will give plenty of notice as well.
