I have an announcement to share today regarding one of the most anticipated trails of the year: Prom. That's right. This year, much like any other year, there will be a Prom hash.
A Prom hash? Isn't it a little late to be putting out details on a trail that takes place in mid-June? Well Prom 2026 -you may have heard- is taking place in a little-known month by the call of July. At the behest of a great hasher we all know, the heat stroke will be part of the experience.
Aw gosh, I don't want to run around Portland in the middle of July, climbing Munjoy Hill, circling Back Cove, gazing out at the Portlantic Ocean from Fort Allen Park, all with a lubricant layer of sweat on my flesh. But how are we going to get to Freeport?! Two words: Amtrak. Downeaster.
This thing goes up and down our sweet state's salty coast, satisfying all its transportation needs, asking so little in return. My prom-posal to you: we're all going to ride this train. To Freeport. And we're going to run when we get there. We're going to...
