Do you believe in ghosts…? More than 40% of Americans do, and 20% have personally experienced one. After today’s trail, you’ll be able to count yourself among them.

Old Town Alexandria has a long and storied history, longer even than our fine country, having been established in 1749. In addition to its many cemeteries, there are several haunted buildings throughout Alexandria. So, lace up your running shoes and join us for a ghost tour of Old Town.

Our trail will take runners past the Lee-Fendall House, currently home to at least two female ghosts, one of whom is often spotted on the back steps with her child. Elsewhere in the city, the Carlyle House has been everything from a hotel to a Civil War hospital to an apartment building, and many have died on the property. As you pass by, keep an eye out for a trio of ghosts, including a Union soldier, that occupy the front lawn. Pay close attention—visitors report feeling someone tugging on their clothes or laying a disembodied hand on their shoulder.

And just in case, your haunted hares have ensured that those who keep their eyes out for spooky “spirits” will be guaranteed to find shrouded shots hiding out near each chilling check.
