DCH4 PRESENTS: THE GREAT 24-HOUR BOOK BENDER & TRAIL!
Read. Hash. Nap. Snack. Repeat. For a cause.
November 28 at 11 AM – November 29 at 11 AM
Proposed scheduling below, official available as we get closer! Even if you don't donate now, please rego so we can get a head (WHO SAID HEAD) count!
Potluck brunch at PJ and PITA's afterward! 11am the 29th
IMPORTANT DATE CHANGE!
We've moved the Book Bender to November 28–29 due to medical timing considerations and some personal circumstances for your hare. Turns out, getting laid off unexpectedly really puts a wrench in your plans. Who knew?
Thanks for everyone's flexibility and understanding!
Same cause. Same shenanigans. New dates. ON-ON!
Come get cozy, bring a stack of books, lace up your trail shoes, and let's see what happens when a bunch of Hashers decide that reading for 24 hours AND throwing in some trails sounds like a perfectly reasonable way to spend a weekend.
Because we're Hashers. Of course there's going to be trail!
WHY WE'RE DOING THIS
Tyler, one of DC's own, is battling Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML) and needs a bone marrow transplant.
I'd already been kicking around the idea of hosting a 24-hour read-a-thon, and this felt like the perfect opportunity to turn something fun and slightly ridiculous into a way to support people in our community.
All Hash Cash will go toward supporting Tyler's medical expenses and additional needs.
HASH CASH & REGISTRATION
Minimum donation: $5
All Hash Cash is donation-based, with a $5 minimum. You're always welcome to give more!
To participate, make a donation OR join the bone marrow registry.
Fill out the Hash Rego form and submit your donation receipt or registry documentation to PJ as proof.

WHAT TO BRING
BYOE — Bring Your Own Everything!
Books, booze, blankets, pillows, pajamas, snacks, chargers, trail shoes, camp chairs, and your favorite emotional support beverage.
Bring whatever you need to survive 24 hours of books, shiggy, questionable sleep schedules, and Hash shenanigans.
Highly recommended: Comfy clothes, a cozy blanket, a ridiculous TBR pile, a flashlight or headlamp, a water bottle, and absolutely no expectations of productivity.
Optional: A functioning liver, literary opinions nobody asked for, and the ability to read past midnight without falling asleep.
Not required: Staying awake for 24 hours, running both trails, or making responsible life choices.
We'll coordinate bigger/shared food as we get closer so we don't somehow end up with 14 pizzas and nothing else.
Bring your own everything. We'll provide the chaos!
11am Bookies begin to gather
1:30/2pm - DCH4 Opening Circle and trail
???pm - DCH4 Closing Circle
8pm - Door close for non readers (proposed)
11am we did it! Enjoy a Potluck Brunch!
