For the second year we have rented the Jug Bay pavilion area and the associated facilities from Saturday morning until Sunday evening. Everyone is invited to this BYOE affair. This means Bring Your Own Everything (food, booze, supplies, etc). The kennel will be providing some beverages (Boh, some N/A beers, perhaps seltzers, and high-quality H2O) and orange food for trails, and charcoal for the community grills.
We had a great time last year! There was a fire pit with lots of grilling and chilling under the pavilion. We are looking for something similar for this campout! For Saturday evening we are going to try out a potluck/ share your food vibe. There will be a traditional shiggy trail on Saturday along with a more family-friendly trail option. In addition, we would like to try to have hash crafts in the afternoon. Think hash beads, learning how to make unique paracord necklaces, beer tab chains, and a hashy music jamboree if we get enough interest.
Sadly, we couldn’t reserve the entire wetland sanctuary, so muggles will have access to Patuxent River Park during regular park hours. Thus, while well-behaved dogs (ie, dogs that play well with other dogs, don’t continuously bark, and are people friendly) are allowed, the owners need to be able to keep their pets leashed as needed due to muggles or other issues. Finally, this is a family-friendly event.
How much you ask for this event? $30 gets you two trails (one on Saturday as well as the traditional BAH3 Sunday trail) as well as camping on Saturday night. Curious what the site looks like? There is plenty of room. Jug Bay Camping
